SASNEV projects

Project-driven culture
As SASNEV is becoming more project-oriented it is necessary to set realistic goals and measure these honestly. The implementation of our annual strategic plan requires ongoing monitoring and evaluation of the progress and results to make improvements as required.

Most of our projects are developed in close collaboration with one or more of our partners. Where required on a specific project, professional partners from the Netherlands, Flanders and South Africa may be appointed.

The SASNEV projects section provides up-to-date information about our various ongoing short and long term projects.

Project 1:
INFOTEEK

Project overview and partners

• Using technology to communicate SASNEV's goals, events and projects in a better and faster manner to a wider target audience
• Establishing SASNEV as a modern electronic information driven organisation through electronic communication

Supporting SASNEV goals

• The provision of electronic information about the Low Countries and SASNEV partners to international and national users
• The promotion of South African, Dutch and Flemish networks in general and more specifically cultural commonalities in the electronic media

Target group and evaluation criteria

• The South African youth in general and specifically Afrikaans- and Dutch speaking users with an interest in the Netherlands and Belgium (specifically Flanders)

Implementation period and project plan

• January 2012 - December 2012

Project 2:
LEESKRINGSEMINAAR EN LEESKRINGDAE

Project overview and partners

• Studying an Afrikaans/Dutch translated work during a one/two day seminar
• Project partners: publishers, ATKV (Lapa), Media24, the Dutch and the Flemish authorities

Supporting SASNEV goals

• Promotion of language contact points
• Promoting the culture of reading and literature in adults and subsequently other age groups

Target group and evaluation criteria

• Afrikaans and possibly Dutch reading circles, publishing industry and translators
• 350 individuals representing 10 reading circles

Implementation period and project plan

• January 2012 - November 2012

Project 3:
LESPAKKET VIR SKOLE

Project overview and partners

• Promotion of Dutch and Afrikaans literature among African high school learners
• Project partners: Orde van den Prince, Department Lier, with more departments promising aid in 2012

Supporting SASNEV goals

• Promotion of language contact points
• Promotion of literacy to youth

Target group and evaluation criteria

• Afrikaans-speaking high school learners
• 200 individuals representing eight schools

Implementation period and project plan

• January 2012 - November 2012
